Trace Level Determination of Polyether Ionophores in Feed
A liquid chromatography-mass spectrometric method was developed and validated to determine six polyether ionophores (lasalocid sodium, monensin sodium, salinomycin sodium, narasin, maduramicin ammonium alpha, and semduramicin sodium) in feed samples. The method developed was very straightforward, involving extraction with 84% acetonitrile of the coccidiostats from the feed samples and filtratio...
متن کاملEvaluation of Polyether Ionophores against Coccidiosis in Broiler Chicken
The efficacy of three polyether ionophores viz. salinomycin, monensin and maduramicin was evaluated in poultry. Dayold chicks (n=350) were randomly divided into seven groups of 50 chicks each. The drugs were administered as feed premix from day one onwards. The chicks at 14-day of age were initially infected with 20,000 sporulated viable oocysts of Eimeria tenella and challenged with 40,000 spo...
متن کاملAnti-parasitic Activity of Certain Indigeous Plants
The antiparasitic activity of certain indigenous plant extracts was tested against the model bovine filarial parasite Setaria digitata. Among the plants tested, the extracts of Strebulus asper was found to be most effective. The chloroform and other phase of the organic solvents showed most activity indicating that the active compound may be a non polar substance having low molecular weight.
متن کاملSimultaneous determination of five polyether ionophores using liquid chromatography with one-step fluorescent derivatization.
We present a selective method for simultaneous determination of five polyether ionophores such as salinomycin (SAL), monensin (MON), narasin (NAR), semduramicin (SEM) and lasalocid (LAS) in aquatic samples using a liquid chromatography with one-step fluorescent derivatization of 2-(4-hydrazinocarbonyl-phenyl) 4,5-diphenylimidazole (HCPI) and 4-(4,5-diphenyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl) benzoyl chloride hy...
متن کاملPeriodicity in collision-induced and remote-bond activation of alkali metal ions attached to polyether ionophores.
The collision-induced dissociation of lasalocid and monensin A bound to alkali metal cations has been investigated using electrospray MS/MS. The binding affinity for the metal cations, as measured with collision-induced dissociation, was found to depend on their ionic radius, decreasing with increasing radius. Monensin A was observed to have a greater binding affinity for alkali metal cations t...
